Sahu Eye Hospital is empanelled for cashless treatment with the third-party administrators (TPAs) and insurers listed below. If your policy is on this list, your cataract, retina or other covered eye surgery can usually be settled directly between the hospital and your insurer, so you do not have to pay the covered amount up front and claim it back later.
The hospital is QAI-accredited (Ambulatory Care Facility — Eye) and registered under the Maharashtra Nursing Homes Registration Act, which is a requirement most insurers check before approving cashless treatment.
How Cashless Treatment Works Here
- Bring your e-card and photo ID to your consultation, along with your policy number.
- We raise the pre-authorisation with your TPA or insurer after the doctor confirms the planned procedure.
- The insurer responds with an approved amount. For planned cataract surgery this usually takes one to three working days, so it is worth starting early.
- You pay only what is not covered — typically the policy deductible, any non-medical consumables, and the difference if you choose a premium lens that sits above your approved limit.
Approval is always the insurer’s decision, not the hospital’s. We prepare and submit the paperwork, but the sanctioned amount and any deductions come from your policy terms.

If Your Insurer Is Not Listed
You can still be treated here and claim reimbursement afterwards. You pay the hospital directly, and we give you the complete file your insurer needs: itemised bill, discharge summary, operation notes, investigation reports and payment receipts. Most policies cover cataract surgery on a reimbursement basis even where there is no cashless tie-up.
Empanelment lists change, and new tie-ups are added from time to time. Before you plan surgery, call +91 93261 44874 and our billing desk will confirm your specific policy and current status.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is cataract surgery covered by health insurance?
Most Indian health policies cover cataract surgery, usually with a sub-limit per eye and often a waiting period of one to two years from when the policy started. Check your policy wording, or call us and we will help you read it.
Will my premium lens be fully covered?
Not always. Insurers typically approve up to a fixed amount per eye. If you choose a multifocal or toric lens that costs more than the approved limit, you pay the difference. We tell you that figure in writing before surgery, not afterwards.
How long does pre-authorisation take?
For planned cataract surgery, usually one to three working days once we submit. Emergency cases are raised on the same day.
Do you treat CGHS patients?
Yes. CGHS is active at Sahu Eye Hospital. Bring your CGHS card and the referral or permission letter for the planned procedure.
Can I use cashless at the Kandivali West clinic?
Insurance-backed procedures are carried out at our main Malad West hospital, which holds the accreditation and nursing-home registration. You can begin your consultation at Kandivali West and the surgical appointment is arranged at Malad for you.
